At Wesley United Church, we offer worship services that cater to the spiritual needs of all. We are a welcoming community of faith where everyone can feel comfortable to gather in the worship of God, Jesus and Spirit.

In our worship services, we set aside time for prayer, singing, and contemplation of both Old and New Testament scriptures. Whether you're returning to church after a long absence or attending regularly, we extend a warm welcome to all who are seeking community and a connection with spirit. We gather at 10:30am every Sunday morning.

Baptism and Communion

In accordance with the United Church of Canada, we here at Wesley celebrate the two sacraments of baptism and communion.

"A sacrament is a symbolic action, or ritual, by which people of faith encounter the presence and goodness of God. In a sacrament, ordinary things like water, bread, and wine are used to point us to God and God’s love, reminding us of the sacred in life. In the United Church, we celebrate two sacraments: baptism, the ritual that formally recognizes we belong to the Christian community, and communion, a symbolic meal initiated by Jesus. These sacraments are of central importance to our faith.

Baptism

Baptism is a symbolic action that signifies the new life God gives us as we join the church community. Baptism uses water as a symbolic cleansing that signifies the acceptance of new life within the church family. The sacrament of baptism is the single rite of initiation into the Christian community, the church.

The United Church offers baptism to all ages. We believe the gift of God's love doesn't depend on our ability to understand it, so we baptize people as infants right up through adulthood.

Communion

The Lord’s Supper, Holy Communion, Eucharist—these different terms refer to the same sacrament shared by most Christian denominations, a symbolic meal. The United Church practices an open table, inviting all who seek to love Jesus to share in this family meal."

In the United Church, we embrace each individual as a unique and cherished creation of God, extending a warm invitation to all to participate fully in the Christian community, including the sacrament of marriage. Our belief is that God intends for loving relationships to embody qualities of faithfulness, responsibility, justice, healing, and support for the couple and those around them, with a recognition that such relationships require preparation and nurturing.

We joyously celebrate the marriage of:

  • Same-sex couples

  • Individuals who have been previously divorced

  • Couples of different religious backgrounds

If you or someone you know is interested in commemorating this special occasion with our church, please reach out to us for further information by filling out the form on our Rentals page.

Funerals

In times of hardship and sorrow, Wesley is here to offer solace and support to you and your family as you grieve the loss of a loved one. We offer our space and as a place to honour and commemorate the life which is no longer with us.

Our faith not only cherishes the moments of earthly existence but also holds steadfast to the hope of life beyond. With God's boundless love and compassion, we extend our community and its resources to you.
